Replit Believe It or Not!
See what I did there?
Anyways…

Happy Monday Everyone. This is the first of a series of weekly emails you will receive where I will profile a company a week and hope to make your Mondays a little better . That’s the kind of confidence I want you to have when you give your next Stand-Up update.
So, the first company I am profiling is Replit.
What the heck is Replit?
Replit is a collaborative end browser IDE. In other words, it’s a browser-based coding platform where you can write, edit, test, and deploy your code. If you have tried to learn to code, you had to go through the frustrating task of installing complex desktop software like Sublime, Eclipse, Visual Studio, etc. Not exactly the best feeling to go through to start learning to code. Replit reduces that friction. But there is more to it. Replit is also a community of developers, a social platform where you can publish your software and collaborate with other people.
If you are not a technical person, you probably lost your interest by the second sentence. Not being technical doesn’t matter for our purposes here. Read on and you will know why.
Ok, back to Replit.
Replit was founded in 2016 by Amjad Masad, Faris Majad, and Haya Odeh. When you are betting on such an early company, you are betting on the Jockey more than the horse. And looking at the history of the founders, they are worth betting on. I won’t bore you with their background. Google it. But what I can tell you is they have a great experience building successful collaborative tools.
What I find much more interesting is Replit’s growth over the last few years. The below chart of Replit’s user growth is called a Hockey stick growth chart. This is a chart characterized by rapid growth after a relatively flat period. The user growth has grown exponentially to 5 million programmers. That’s probably all the programmers in the world. lol.

Well, not all the programmers in the world. And that’s because the recently reported user base of Replit is 10 million. They literally doubled their users in one year.
Replit raised $80M at an $800M valuation a few months ago. That information is super important for two reasons. First, they have a lot of money in the bank which will be used to hire a lot of people and pay them market rate salary and benefits. With growth comes the need for more people to support it and grow a lot more. Second, the company is valued at $800M which means it has a lot more room to go up especially given the growth trajectory the company is experiencing. To give you some context, Microsoft bought GitHub, another developer tool for $7.5billion, and I think they could have gotten much more. So, Replit has the potential to 10X and probably more.
The company is backed by prominent investors like Coatue Management, Andreessen Horowitz, and Y Combinator. Absolute legends in the game who have been crushing it for a long time.
Now, you might be thinking all this is well and good, but I am not a technical person so how do I get to be part of this. Let me ask you this. How often do you use the product/service of the company that you currently use? Probably not a lot or not at all. You don’t have to be a programmer to be a part of Replit. Like any other companies, they have different business functions and are hiring for roles like Marketing, Accounting, Data Science, Product Designer, Personal Assistant, etc. Check out their careers page below.
Now next time a recruiter reaches out, ask them if they know anyone that works in Replit.
